Maya is The Audience Agency’s lead on diversity and inclusion. She is experienced in developing strong learning, engagement and participation programmes with diverse communities, as well as helping organisations identify and tackle barriers that exist for under-represented audiences. She is skilled in designing creative research and evaluation tools where more traditional methods are unlikely to work.
Prior to the Audience Agency, Maya worked for the Heritage Lottery Fund, and has solid experience of large national funding bodies and the museums and heritage sector. She has a good understanding of national cultural strategies, with particular reference to furthering diversity, equality and inclusion. She has developed programmes that bring together national bodies with local voluntary and community organisations to diversify heritage activities. Prior to this, Maya worked for Oxfam, with a range of infrastructure organisations in the voluntary sector, as well as on cultural and learning projects.
Maya is an experienced facilitator, trainer, and tutor who also has extensive experience of delivering community consultation. She has worked with a wide range of communities of interest – from refugees and asylum seekers, to ESOL learners, women’s groups, people experiencing mental health challenges and grassroots community organisations.
