Nicky supports organisations to collaborate with their communities. She specialises in participatory arts practices and helps clients to understand, and respond to, the needs of culturally underserved groups.

Nicky has expertise in evaluation of participatory programmes, qualitative research and participant-led project design. She is particularly interested in processes of co-production and the relationship between access and creativity.

Prior to working at The Audience Agency, Nicky lectured in Theatre at York St John University, specialising in socially engaged performance. She has considerable experience of leading community arts projects, particularly with neurodiverse communities, and has developed tools that support them to participate in research and evaluation.

Formally, Nicky held community and education roles at Hampstead Theatre and Arcola Theatre in London, leading on theatre projects with schools, hospitals, care homes and elders’ groups. She has a PhD in Theatre and Performance and is the author of a number of publications on art and care, including the book Performance and Dementia: a cultural response to care.
